Musical theatre Classes
Kindy-Year 2 | Year 3 and Year 4| Year 5 and Year 6| Year 6 – Year 8
Musical Theatre classes combine singing, dancing, and acting techniques to create a dynamic and well-rounded performance experience. In each class, students build vocal technique, learn choreography, and explore characters through scenes and storytelling. Classes focus on creativity, teamwork, and self-expression, giving students the opportunity to grow as performers in a fun and supportive environment.

Class Uniform:
Student are required to purchase a Hive performing arts t-shirt to wear to class weekly. Purchase from the client portal.
Makeups:
2 makeups classes are available for Performing Arts students per term. Notify your absence no less than 2 hrs before your class (via the Client Portal) to receive a makeup token. Makeups have a 2 month expiry, and may only be accessed while you are enrolled.
2026 - Term 3 class content
Musical Theatre – Kindy – Year 2
Children will dive into the world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! Bringing characters to life through expressive characterisation, while building singing and choreography skills in preparation for a mid-term showcase performance. In the second half of the term, children will step into the magical story of The Greatest Showman exploring amazing choreography to the classic ‘This is me’ and having a lot of fun with the circus theme! The term will finish with an in-class performance to showcase their hard work and creativity.
Musical Theatre – Year 3-Year 8
Term three will be inspired by the spectacular musical Wicked. Students in Year 3 and 4 will explore the energetic number “One Short Day”, learning choreography, lyrics, and developing a short scene to bring the piece to life, while students Year 5 and above will focus on “Dancing Through Life”, working on singing, choreography, and character-driven scene work as they perform the song together. We will continue to build strong musical theatre skills across all groups, with an emphasis on vocal harmonisation, emotional expression in acting, and developing original choreography. In class performances will be in Week 5 and Week 10.

All musical theatre classes have an in-class performance at the mid point and end of each term. Students are encouraged to join a production by auditioning for our Hive productions. See our Productions page
THEATRE MINIS
Age 3-5 yrs
Designed to inspire & nurture our youngest performers, Theatre Mini’s offers a holistic approach to developing performance skills in singing, dance, creative movement and acting.

Musical Theatre Academy
Year 4 – Year 6 | Year 7 – Year 8 | Year 9 – Year 11
Academy classes offer an immersive, focused learning experience for students who have a high interest in growing their performance skills.
During the session, students will rotate through three classes taught by industry professionals, learning singing, dance for theatre and acting for theatre.
Our Academy program also incudes focused tuition on getting students ready for auditions both for Hive productions and for gaining entry to programs like Aspire or HSPA. New students are always welcome to join, however we recommend that they attend a 1 hour Musical theatre class for at least a term prior to joining.

2026 - Term 3 class content
Students will continue their Musical Theatre advanced training, rotating through Drama, Dance, and Singing. In Drama, students will explore emotional expression in role and create their own scenes inspired by musical theatre favourites such as School of Rock and The Greatest Showman. In Dance, they will develop spatial awareness through choreography and create their own movement phrases inspired by Hamilton and Beetlejuice. In Singing, they will focus on healthy vocal projection, pitch accuracy, and ensemble harmonisation through songs from the hit musical Mamma Mia!.

Drama Classes
Year 3 and Year 4 | Year 5 and Year 6 | Year 6 and Year 7 | Year 8 and Year 9
Drama classes focus on developing authentic acting skills, encouraging students to use their face, voice, and body to express a wide range of emotions through movement and performance. Guided by our experienced actors and drama tutors, students collaborate with others, explore character and storytelling, and create scripts and scenes together. Classes are designed to build confidence, creativity, and communication skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

Drama Year 3 – Year 9
We will be exploring the art of Physical Theatre. Students will develop greater control of their bodies to communicate character, ideas, and emotion, building an understanding of how movement can be used to enhance storytelling. They will also continue to strengthen their teamwork skills and their ability to devise collaboratively as an ensemble, all while having plenty of fun along the way! In class performances will be in Week 5 and Week 10.

Drama Academy
Year 6 – Year 9
Join our Drama Academy class to take your acting skills to the next level in a focused, supportive environment. These extended-length classes give students extra time to strengthen their skills, explore characters, and delve deeper into all areas of performance. During the year, students have the opportunity to take part in a drama performance to share what they’ve learned with family and friends.

2026 - TERM 3 CLASS CONTENT
We are exploring the art of Physical Theatre! Students will explore an array of beginner to intermediate physical theatre skills in devised scene work. This will develop their skills in not relying on dialogue to communicate character and driving the narrative of a student led scene. Our Drama Academy students will have the opportunity to perform their spectacular pieces mid term 4.

Voice Lessons
5-18 yrs
Voice lessons are beneficial not only for students who are serious about singing and developing technique, but also for developing confidence in singing and performance, particularly for our Musical Theatre Students. Students are guided through voice warm ups which are a great opportunity for teaching breathing, accurate pitch and tone. Students also learn vocal technique and vocal health, learning songs of their choice and those suggested by their tutor to improve new skills.
We provide private lessons only, which ensures a targeted approach to learning.

Lesson Fees vary depending on the teachers level of qualifications and experience.
Student teachers: $30 / lesson
Junior teachers: $38 / lesson
Senior teachers: $45 / lesson

Performance Opportunities:
Students have the opportunity to performing in our bi-annual concerts.
Missed lessons: You are paying for a weekly timeslot with a teacher. We can sometimes accommodate makeup lessons where other students have notified an absence in advance, and these can only be booked via the client portal.
