Musical Theatre Academy
Academy classes offer an immersive, focused learning experience for students who have a high interest in growing their performance skills.
During the 2 hour session, students rotate through three classes taught by industry professionals: Singing, Dance & Drama, all with a focus on musical theatre.
New students are always welcome to join, however we recommend that they attend a 1 hour Musical theatre class for at least a term prior to joining.
Age groups:
- Students in Year 4-6
- Students in Year 7-8
- Students in Year 9-11
For younger students we offer a Mini Academy program for students in year 1-3 in a 1.5 hour format. (Scroll down for more information)

Student are required to purchase a Hive performing arts t-shirt to wear to class weekly. Purchase from the client portal.
Makeups:
2 makeups classes are available for Performing Arts students per term. Notify your absence no less than 2 hrs before your class (via the Client Portal) to receive a makeup token. Makeups have a 2 month expiry, and may only be accessed while you are enrolled.
2026 - Term 4 class content
For Musical Theatre Academy, students will continue their advanced Musical Theatre training, rotating through Drama, Dance, and Singing. In Drama, children will seek a deeper understanding of how to bring a script to life and explore musicals such as How to train your dragon. They will be developing their own musical scripts and analysing each other’s performances. In Dance, they will develop their balance and coordination and develop group choreography pieces to classics from Legally Blonde and MJ the musical. In Singing, they will focus on healthy vocal technique, clarity and diction and storytelling through songs from Hamilton.

Musical theatre Classes
Musical Theatre classes combine singing, dancing, and acting techniques to create a dynamic and well-rounded performance experience. In each class, students build vocal technique, learn choreography, and explore characters through scenes and storytelling. Classes focus on creativity, teamwork, and self-expression, giving students the opportunity to grow as performers in a fun and supportive environment.
Age groups: Students in Kindy to year 11 (divided into age specific classes)

2026 - Term 4 class content
Musical Theatre – Kindy – Year 2
In our Kindy – Year 2 Musical Theatre class, children will dive into the world of Frozen, bringing characters to life through expressive characterisation, while building singing and choreography skills in preparation for a mid-term in class performance. In the second half of the term, children will step into the magical world of Pantomime and this year we will be exploring Hansel and Gretel. The term will finish with an in-class performance to showcase their hard work and creativity in their very own mini Panto!
Musical Theatre – Year 3-Year 4
Our Year 3 and 4 students will step into the magical world of Beauty and the Beast, exploring this much-loved musical through singing, dancing and drama. Throughout the term, children will develop their confidence, creativity and performance skills while bringing the story and its characters to life. In singing, we’ll focus on storytelling through song and expressive performance. In dance, children will develop their balance and coordination, while in drama we will focus on vocal expression and character development to create engaging and confident performances. We can’t wait to share our progress with you in our mid-term and end of term in class performances!
Musical Theatre – Year 5 – Year 10
Our Year 5 and above classes will explore the fun loving musical The Addams family through singing, dancing and drama. Throughout the term, children will strengthen their stage presence, teamwork and communication skills while exploring the characters, music and story of this much-loved musical. Children will develop their projection skills when singing, bring a script to life in acting and develop their group choreography skills in dance. We can’t wait to share our progress with you in our mid-term and end of term in class performances!

Theatre Mini's Classes
Confidence on stage starts with confidence in play. That’s exactly how we teach.
Through drama, dance, and singing, children explore storytelling and role play in fun, playful ways. Teachers use games, songs, props, and questions to draw out curiosity, helping children experiment with movement, expression, and finding their own voice.
This is the thinking behind every session in Theatre Minis. Led by our experienced teaching artists, classes are thoughtfully designed to build real performing arts skills — not just fill time with games.
Each class encourages children to explore together, take turns, and share ideas, building early friendships and communication skills alongside their creative confidence. Activities are themed around well-loved characters and stories — from Moana to The Jungle Book and The Little Mermaid — so children connect with the material in a joyful, familiar way.
At the end of each half-term and full term, families are invited to a short, informal sharing inside the classroom, where children present what they’ve been exploring. It’s a chance to celebrate their progress and enjoy a taste of performing — all in a supportive, pressure-free environment.

2026 - Term 4 class content
In the first half of term, children will step into the magical world of Thelma the Unicorn! They’ll bring the colourful characters and catchy songs to life through singing, dancing and imaginative play, as they work towards a fun and exciting performance at the midpoint of the term!
In the second half of term, children will dive into the much-loved world of Bluey! They’ll have the opportunity to become their favourite characters, explore playful stories and learn songs and dances as they prepare for a fantastic end-of-term performance!
Drama Classes
Drama classes focus on developing authentic acting skills, encouraging students to use their face, voice, and body to express a wide range of emotions through movement and performance. Guided by our experienced actors and drama tutors, students collaborate with others, explore character and storytelling, and create scripts and scenes together. Classes are designed to build confidence, creativity, and communication skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
Age groups: Students in yrs 3 – 9 (divided into age specific classes)

2026 - TERM 4 CLASS CONTENT
Drama Year 3 and 4
In our Year 3 and 4 Drama classes we will delve deeper into our script development work. Children will explore how to perform with intention and confidence. They will bring to life a hilarious murder mystery script together, developing their performance skills and having a lot of fun! We can’t wait to share our progress with you in our mid-term and end of term in class performances.
Drama Year 5+
In our Year 5 and above classes, we’ll begin the term by sharpening our script work, before bringing together all the skills we’ve developed throughout the year. Children will draw on their characterisation, physical theatre and devising skills to create thought-provoking and engaging pieces of theatre. We look forward to sharing their hard work with you in our in-class performances; mid-term and again at the end of term.

Drama Academy
Join our Drama Academy class to take your acting skills to the next level in a focused, supportive environment. These extended-length classes give students extra time to strengthen their skills, explore characters, and delve deeper into all areas of performance. During the year, students have the opportunity to take part in a drama performance to share what they’ve learned with family and friends.
Age groups: Students in yrs 6 – 9

2026 - TERM 4 CLASS CONTENT
Drama Academy
Drama Academy has been working hard preparing a special performance for their families in Term 4! At the end of the term, we’ll invite families to join us for the final 20 minutes of class to celebrate the students’ creativity and hard work in a spectacular performance. The showcase will bring together their physical theatre skills and original devised pieces, inspired by a diverse range of stimuli; from Shakespeare to Inside Out!

Voice Lessons
5-18 yrs
Voice lessons are beneficial not only for students who are serious about singing and developing technique, but also for developing confidence in singing and performance, particularly for our Musical Theatre Students. Students are guided through voice warm ups which are a great opportunity for teaching breathing, accurate pitch and tone. Students also learn vocal technique and vocal health, learning songs of their choice and those suggested by their tutor to improve new skills.
We provide private lessons only, which ensures a targeted approach to learning.

Junior teachers: $38 / lesson

Performance Opportunities:
Students have the opportunity to performing in our bi-annual concerts.
Missed lessons: You are paying for a weekly timeslot with a teacher. We can sometimes accommodate makeup lessons where other students have notified an absence in advance, and these can only be booked via the client portal.
